The ladder
Everyone walks in a Pawn. You climb through the pieces, and then the pieces run out and the titles begin. Nobody is given a rank here — it is taken, on a real board.
The loop
Online, from your phone. Pick your time control and rating range.
The system pairs you with a player at your level and issues a Match ID.
Purchase a drink and check in at the counter with your Match ID.
You get a board number. Real pieces, real clock, no engines.
Staff enter the result, then both players confirm it.
Your rating moves immediately. Watch your name climb the board.
The rating
Your Mastermind Rating is your score inside the café. Everyone starts at 1200, and every rated game moves it up or down.
It uses Elo — the same system used in chess worldwide. Beat someone rated above you and you gain a lot. Lose to someone below you and you drop a lot. Beat someone close to you and the move is small.
New players move fast so the system can find their level quickly. Once you have played enough games, your rating settles down.
You can play as much as you like, but only 10 games a day are rated. After that the games still count as games — they just stop moving the number. It keeps the board honest.
It is separate from FIDE and from online ratings. It is ours, and it is earned here.

Every month
Be the one.
At the end of every month, the highest-rated player with enough games takes all of this. Then the board resets and it starts again.
